How To Replace A Frame In Lake Controller
During the operation of an audio system managed by Lake Controller, you may occasionally need to replace a Frame due to hardware failure, maintenance, or simply to swap it with another device. Instead of reconfiguring everything from scratch, Lake Controller allows you to copy and replace Frames quickly using the Batch Replace and Frame Copy/Replace functions - preserving all I/O settings, labels, and module presets.

Preparation Before Replacing a Frame

Before proceeding, make sure that:

  • You have downloaded the latest version of Lake Controller from: labgruppen.com/support/download-software

  • The new or temporary Frame is already connected to the network and recognized in Lake Controller

  • All Virtual Frames or previous configurations have been saved for easy transfer to the physical device

Using Batch Replace to Replace Multiple Frames Simultaneously

Suppose you have already designed two Virtual Frames (for example, PLM 20000Q Stage Left and Stage Right) and now want to replace them with physical Frames connected to the system.
Follow these STEPS:

  1. Open Lake Controller and go to the Modules tab.

  2. At the bottom of the interface, you will see a list of currently connected physical Frames.

  3. Select Copy/Paste Replace.

  4. Choose Batch Replace to replace multiple Frames at once.

In the Batch Replace window:

  • The left list displays all Virtual or Offline Frames.

  • The right list displays all Online Frames currently available.
Simply assign the Destination Number for each corresponding device.

Example:

  • Press the Select button on the front panel of the Stage Left Frame to mark it.

  • In Lake Controller, select this Frame and assign the corresponding destination number for the Stage Left Virtual Frame.

  • Repeat the process for the remaining Frames, then click Start Replace → YES.

Lake Controller will automatically copy all configuration data, labels, presets, and I/O mapping from the Virtual Frame to the physical Frame within seconds.

Replacing a Frame Sent for Maintenance (Replace Frame)

If a Frame needs to be sent for repair and you must use a temporary replacement, Lake Controller allows you to replace individual Frames easily without losing configuration data.

Steps:

  1. Disconnect the old Frame (e.g., Stage Left) - the system will report an error, and the Frame will switch to Offline mode.

  2. Connect the temporary Frame to the system - it will appear in the Modules list.

  3. Record the Technical Data of the old Frame before replacement:

    • Select the offline module → go to I/O Config → Technical Data → note the displayed information.

  4. Return to the Modules tab → select Copy/Paste Replace → Replace Frame.

  5. Choose the temporary Frame from the list and click Complete Replace → Yes.

Once complete, all audio configurations, routing, and presets from the old Frame will be transferred to the new one.
Finally, re-enter the Technical Data recorded earlier to finalize the system information.

Benefits of Using Batch Replace & Frame Replace

  • Save time by avoiding full reconfiguration when replacing Frames

  • Retain all project labels and settings

  • Seamlessly synchronize between Virtual Frames and real hardware

  • Minimize manual setup errors during live events, installations, or maintenance

Summary

The Frame Replace and Batch Replace features in Lake Controller provide flexible, intelligent, and time-saving management for professional sound engineers.
Whether you are setting up a live stage system, performing maintenance, or synchronizing virtual configurations with real devices, Lake ensures every process remains stable, accurate, and efficient.
