In professional audio, transmission technology is just as critical as the microphone capsule itself. That is why Sennheiser developed the EW-DX on its Digital UHF platform, delivering stable wireless transmission, pristine audio quality, and exceptional system scalability for conferences, live performances, theaters, broadcast, and other professional applications.
So, how does Digital UHF differ from traditional analog wireless microphones, and why has Sennheiser chosen this technology for the EW-DX series?
How Does Sennheiser EW-DX Digital UHF Outperform Analog Wireless Microphone Systems?
Compared with traditional analog wireless microphone systems, Sennheiser EW-DX offers significant advantages in RF performance, audio quality, and system management.

How Does Digital UHF Technology Work on EW-DX?
Digital UHF is a digital audio transmission technology operating in the UHF frequency band. According to Sennheiser, EW-DX combines Digital UHF transmission with the proprietary SePac Audio Codec and a new-generation signal processing architecture to deliver highly accurate audio reproduction from the microphone capsule to the system output.
EW-DX also features Intelligent Switching Diversity, an antenna diversity technology that switches antennas between audio data frames. This maintains a reliable RF connection without introducing audio dropouts or interference during antenna switching.
With its Digital UHF platform, EW-DX delivers:
- Ultra-low latency of just 1.9 ms.
- Wide dynamic range.
- Faithful audio reproduction from input to output.
- Reliable operation in challenging RF environments.
