FQAs Eighteen Sound | DSS, TSS, ESS, iD, IPAL - Suspension, Horn Geometry & Amplifier Optimization
Learn about DSS and TSS spider systems, Elliptical Shape horns, Class D optimization (iD), and IPAL integration - technologies that improve stability, directivity, and amplifier matching.

DSS - Double Silicon Spider

The Double Silicon Spider (DSS) was developed by Eighteen Sound in 1998. It consists of a two-layer spider structure bonded with a special silicone-based adhesive mixture. The result is highly linear piston motion and perfect suspension control over the entire operating range.

TSS - Triple Silicon Spider

The Triple Silicon Spider (TSS) represents an evolution of the DSS, featuring a three-layer spider construction bonded with a proprietary silicone adhesive. It provides superior control of the moving assembly and long-term mechanical stability.

ESS - Elliptical Shape

The Elliptical Shape (ESS) concept refers to the horn geometry. ESS horns offer directivity control on the frontal plane not only on the standard horizontal and vertical axes but on an infinite number of planes between them, resulting in better energy control and sound quality.

iD - Class D Optimization

Eighteen Sound iD speakers are optimized for very low impedance to achieve maximum power transfer from Class D amplifiers.

IPAL

Eighteen Sound IPAL loudspeakers are designed to perfectly integrate with the IPAL Differential Pressure Control technology developed by Powersoft S.p.A. The IPAL amplifier module includes a zero-latency pressure sensor providing real-time feedback for precise control of high-performance transducers, delivering exceptional output and low-frequency performance.
