The Sennheiser TC Bar is an all-in-one conferencing device that can connect directly to a computer or integrate into a meeting room network. From USB-C, USB-A and HDMI to Ethernet/Dante, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, each connection serves a specific role in the system.
Understanding the function of each port and connection makes Sennheiser TC Bar setup easier, especially when connecting a computer, display, microphone, or other conferencing devices.
What connectivity options does the Sennheiser TC Bar offer?
The TC Bar features key connectivity options including USB-C, USB-A, RJ45, HDMI and DC IN, along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support. Among these, USB-C is the primary connection between the TC Bar and a computer for online meetings.

USB-C is the most important connection when using TC Bar in a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) setup. Simply connect TC Bar to a notebook or computer via USB-C, and the device can operate directly as the audio and video system for online meetings.
With USB-A, TC Bar can connect an external third-party PTZ camera. Users can then choose between the integrated TC Bar camera and an external PTZ camera depending on their video requirements, such as when an additional viewing angle is needed for a presenter or whiteboard. Sennheiser notes that TC Bar does not provide intelligent automatic switching between cameras.
The RJ45 port provides Ethernet connectivity, device control and Dante. This connection becomes important when TC Bar is deployed as part of a network-based conferencing system rather than being connected directly to a computer.
For HDMI, TC Bar uses this connection to transmit video signals to an external display. HDMI on TC Bar is not used for audio transmission, as TC Bar operates as the audio device within the conferencing system.

What are USB-C, Dante, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth used for on TC Bar?
For standard online meetings, USB-C is the simplest connection method. TC Bar can connect directly to a computer and operate in BYOD mode without requiring a complex network deployment. This approach is suitable when the device needs to be used flexibly with multiple computers or in meeting rooms that do not require centralized device management.

When TC Bar needs to be integrated into a professional AV system, Dante allows the device to transmit and route audio signals over the network. TC Bar also supports connecting additional Sennheiser Microphones via Dante in supported configurations. Advanced network options such as Single Domain, Dual Domain and SPLIT Mode depend on the TC Bar S/M model and the actual network architecture.
Wi-Fi on TC Bar is used for network connectivity and remote device control through Sennheiser Control Cockpit. Wi-Fi does not support audio or video transmission. According to Sennheiser documentation, an Ethernet connection is still required during the initial setup and activation of the Wi-Fi function.
With Bluetooth, TC Bar supports two main profiles. HFP is optimized for voice and conferencing, while A2DP is intended for music playback applications. This allows mobile devices such as smartphones to connect to TC Bar via Bluetooth for supported use cases.
Notably, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Dante are disabled by default when the device leaves the factory for security reasons. These protocols must be enabled in Sennheiser Control Cockpit before they can be used.
For audio, TC Bar does not provide an analog output. Sennheiser recommends using the Dante output options when audio signals need to be routed within a networked system.

In summary, the Sennheiser TC Bar can be deployed in configurations ranging from a simple BYOD setup using only USB-C to a professional conferencing system using Ethernet, Dante, additional microphones and Control Cockpit. The appropriate deployment method depends on the meeting room size, connected peripherals and available network infrastructure.
