Explore the advanced motor and voice coil technologies from Eighteen Sound: ISV, TTC, Dual Gap (DG), and EWAL, improving linearity, cooling, and power handling.
ISV - Interleaved Sandwich Voice Coil
The Interleaved Sandwich Voice coil (ISV) uses a high-strength fiberglass former where half of the coil is wound on the outside and half on the inside surface. This results in a balanced, linear motor with excellent force factor symmetry and enhanced heat dissipation.
TTC - Tetracoil Double Voice Coil
The Tetracoil Double Voice Coil (TTC) is based on a revolutionary magnetic structure in which two inside-outside coils are wound on the same former and suspended evenly in two magnetic gaps. Its main advantages include:
- Ideal motor symmetry during large excursions, offering a flat impedance and reduced even-order harmonic distortion.
- Superior heat dissipation and reduced thermal distortion, thanks to the double surface area and optimized thermal exchange.
- Up to 50% higher output power capability with minimal power compression.
DG - Dual Gap Double Voice Coil
The Dual Gap Double Voice Coil (DG) design is similar to TTC, using two separate coils on the same former and suspended in dual magnetic gaps. Unlike TTC, the DG coils are wound only on the outside surface of the former, reducing moving mass. Advantages include:
- Excellent motor symmetry and flat impedance response.
- Improved heat dissipation and reduced thermal compression, enabling higher sustained output.
EWAL - EDGE Wound Aluminum Voice Coil
The Edge Wound Aluminum Voice coil (EWAL) employs a special aluminum wire wound on edge, improving packing density and efficiency while keeping mass low.
