 User Guide for Sennheiser MobileConnect
Explore with Hoàng Bảo Khoa the most frequently asked questions about deploying, configuring, and operating the Sennheiser MobileConnect system in auditoriums, theaters, schools, conference centers, and other venues that require live audio streaming over Wi-Fi networks.

Integrating MobileConnect into an Audio System

How can MobileConnect be integrated into an auditorium, lecture hall, or meeting room?

The simplest integration setup is Standalone Mode.

In this mode, the audio source is connected to the MOBILECONNECT STATION via Dante or analog XLR. The MOBILECONNECT STATION is then connected to the Wi-Fi network through the PoE/Stream network port.

The system's Admin Interface can be accessed through a web browser via the Ctrl port at: https://192.168.0.10

After the MobileConnect app on the user's smartphone scans the channel QR code, the device automatically establishes a connection to the MOBILECONNECT STATION and begins receiving the audio stream.

Does the system create its own Wi-Fi network?

No. MobileConnect does not generate its own Wi-Fi network.

A compatible Wi-Fi infrastructure that meets the system's technical requirements must already be available.

If you plan to build a dedicated Wi-Fi network for MobileConnect, Sennheiser recommends consulting a professional IT system integrator.

How do end users listen to the audio?

To use MobileConnect, the user's smartphone must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the MobileConnect system.

Users can connect to an audio channel using one of the following methods:

  • Browse the list of available channels in the app (if the channel list is not hidden).
  • Scan the QR code of the desired channel.
  • Enter the Channel ID manually.

  • Wired headphones connected to the smartphone.
  • Hearing aids or cochlear implants in T-Position mode when used together with an Induction Neck Loop connected to the smartphone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Sennheiser MobileConnect Deployment and User Guide

What is the audio transmission latency of MobileConnect?

The system latency depends on the device platform:

  • iOS devices: approximately 50–55 ms.
  • Mid-range to high-end Android devices (Wi-Fi 5/802.11ac and Android 9 or later): approximately 50–65 ms.

Which smartphones are recommended?

For Android devices, Sennheiser recommends mid-range or high-end smartphones that support:

  • Android 9 or later.
  • Wi-Fi ac (Wi-Fi 5).

For iOS devices, the recommendation is:

  • iOS 13 or later.

Below are some devices that Sennheiser has evaluated as providing excellent stability and low audio latency.

iOS devices:

  • iPhone 8 or later.
  • iPod Touch (7th generation).

Android devices:

  • Google Pixel 3 or later.
  • Samsung Galaxy S Series (S8 or later).
  • Samsung Galaxy Note Series (Note 8 or later).

Can Bluetooth headphones or hearing aids be used?

Yes. However, current Bluetooth technology (versions earlier than 5.2) does not support Ultra Low Latency audio transmission.

As a result, when using Bluetooth headphones or Bluetooth hearing aids, the audio will not be perfectly synchronized with the video (lip-sync cannot be achieved).
