X32- How Do X32 Effects Into My DAW?
The Concept Firstly we need to understand the concept of the 'OUT 1-16' bus within the X32. This is not a physical bus, it is better thought of as a virtual bus inside the X32 architecture that can act as a virtual patch Bay of sorts. Which allows us to connect pretty much any signal and specific point of that signal's path to the required physical bus or output.

Overview The OUT 1-16 Bus is located in the ROUTING menu. The column on the left side named 'Analog Output' are the 16 channels of audio this bus outputs. You can configure these as you wish with the column on the right called 'Output Signal' where you select which channels you wish to assign to the 'Analog Output' (the 'Analog' part of the description maybe a bit misleading as it can also be routed to digital card outputs and AES outputs, it just refers to the main outputs of the OUT 1-16 Bus). From the 'Output Signal' column You can select Main, Mixbus, Matrix, Direct, Aux, FX, Monitor and Talkback channels to assign to the main 'Analog'/Bus Outputs. The 'Tap' column further right let's you set which point of the signal path you wish to take the signal from (I will discuss this in further detail below). Configuration To configure the Bus simply hover over the output channel you wish to configure in the 'Analog Output' column using the first encoder to scroll though the channels (you do not need to click the encoder, the orange bar simply needs to be over the channel). Then using the 4th encoder you can scroll and set which channel you wish to send through that output, click the respective channel with the encoder and the grey highlight box will turn orange confirming that that channel has been set. Then use the same process with the 5th encoder to set the 'Tap' point of the signal path. Furthermore with the 6th encoder you can set delay times for that channel. Once this bus has been configured you will then want to assign it. It can be assigned to 'CARD OUT', AES50 PORT A/B and XLR OUT (as is highlighted in the image below). The bus is called 'OUT' and is only assignable in blocks of 8 channels (as pictured below in the 'Expansion Outputs 1-8' column and the 'Expansion Outputs 9-16' column).  Below is a diagram showing where the different 'Tap' points take their signal from. Please note 'LC' relates to Lo Cut and the '+M' relates to the Mute button.Recording 'Wet' / Effected SignalsAfter knowing how the OUT 1-16 Bus works it should now be straight forward for you to setup 'Wet' effected recordings in your DAW and other applications. For DAW recordings all that is needed is to set the 'CARD OUT' outputs to 'OUT 1-8 and/or 9-16', set the channels you wish to send through it via the 'OUT 1-16' tab and make sure to send them at the proper 'Tap' point. For example if you set them to 'Post Fader' the DAW will record all the Gate, EQ, Dynamics, Inserts Effects and Fader level. If you set it to 'PreFdr' the DAW will record Gate, EQ and Dynamics only. 'Post EQ' only sends Gate and EQ, and so on.
