Studio quality for wireless systems
The KK 205 microphone capsule brings studio quality sound to the stage for the most demanding live applications. Simply put, the KK 205 is the best microphone capsule for the best wireless systems, combining Neumann's renowned perfect feel with Senn heiser's long-standing expertise in live performance engineering.
The KK 205 microphone head is based on Neumann’s highly successful and award-winning KMS series of wired stage microphones. While most stage microphones use a dynamic capsule, the KK 205 features a true capsule that delivers the exceptional clarity that Neumann studio microphones are renowned for worldwide. At the same time, the KK 205 possesses the ruggedness needed for stage use, thus dispelling the misconception that condenser microphones have to be “fragile”. The KK 205 can withstand extreme sound pressure levels of up to 150 dB without clipping, and its tight, frequency-independent supersonic pattern ensures high gain before feedback. The KK 205 has a much smoother frequency response than dynamic microphones and an airy head. Compared to dynamic microphones, the Neumann KK 205 has a much superior transient response, resulting in a more immediate, expressive vocal sound. In practical terms: easy to understand, no need for regular EQ boost – further improves feedback resistance.
The KK 205 is optimized for close-range operation; the fixed low-cut filter compensates for proximity effect and ensures clear bass, even when the singer's lips touch the microphone. The head grille is made of solid steel and has a highly efficient internal pop-up screen, which keeps moisture away from the capsule. Thanks to Neumann's careful engineering, these acoustic filters do not cause any sound problems.
Applications
Neumann microphone heads combined with Sennheiser wireless systems have proven their outstanding sound quality and reliability on some of the world's biggest stages, including international televised events, such as the Eurovision Song Contest.
The KK 205 is designed for vocals and speech on stage as well as in other feedback-prone environments. It is suitable for in-ear monitoring as well as general monitoring systems.
