The Sennheiser HMD 27 is a broadcast headset with an integrated microphone, designed for professional audio monitoring and communication in demanding working environments. Featuring a lightweight design, a Dynamic Supercardioid microphone, and ActiveGard® technology, it is well suited for broadcasting, television, and program production applications.
Sennheiser HMD 27 is a professional headset with an integrated microphone, designed for radio broadcasting, television, and program production. It is intended for commentators, audio engineers, and broadcast professionals who require accurate audio monitoring and clear communication throughout their work.
The HMD 27 features Dynamic drivers, a Closed-back Over-ear design, and a Supercardioid dynamic Microphone. In addition, ActiveGard® technology helps control sudden high-level audio peaks, providing hearing protection in Professional Audio environments.
Dynamic Supercardioid microphone for Radio and TV Broadcasting
The HMD 27 is equipped with a Supercardioid dynamic Microphone that focuses on capturing sound from the front while reducing unwanted noise from other directions. With a frequency response of 40 Hz - 18,000 Hz, the microphone is well suited for voice transmission in broadcast applications.
The microphone boom can be positioned on either the left or right side, offering flexibility for different wearing preferences. Its capsule is designed to perform reliably in professional working environments, even when surrounding noise is present.

ActiveGard® - Protection Against Sudden High-Level Audio Peaks
ActiveGard® is an integrated sound-limiting technology in the HMD 27. It can be switched on or off and offers three selectable attenuation levels. This technology helps control unexpected high-level audio peaks, reducing the risk of excessive sound reaching the user's ears.
According to Sennheiser's specifications, ActiveGard® operates at 95 dB SPL and 110 dB SPL at 1 kHz. This feature is particularly useful in live broadcasting environments, where audio levels may change suddenly during program production.
Closed-back Over-ear Design for Long Working Sessions
The HMD 27 features a Closed-back Over-ear design with earcups that fully cover the ears, providing passive noise isolation and helping users focus on audio monitoring. Its SPLIT headband distributes contact pressure more evenly, reducing pressure points during extended use.
Weighing just 240 g, the headset combines soft ear cushions with an ergonomic design for enhanced wearing comfort. One earcup can be rotated away from the ear (Flip-away), allowing users to hear surrounding sounds whenever necessary.
The modular design supports different compatible cables and microphone booms. The microphone boom can also be switched between the left and right sides to suit individual working arrangements.
