The Neumann NDH 20 marked the company's first entry into studio headphones. Combining a closed-back, over-ear design with robust construction and high isolation, the NDH 20 is not intended to make recordings sound more flattering. Instead, it focuses on monitoring and analytical listening, helping recording engineers identify problems in recordings and mixes that can be difficult to hear on other systems.

The Neumann KH 150 is a two-way active monitor designed to fill the gap between the compact KH 120 and the larger three-way KH 310. Combining a 165mm bass/mid driver, 25mm tweeter, onboard DSP and integration with MA 1, the KH 150 delivers extended bandwidth, substantial output capability and precise monitoring from a relatively compact nearfield design.

The Neumann MT 48 is an audio interface developed from the Merging Anubis platform, combining USB, RAVENNA and ADAT connectivity in a compact desktop unit. Alongside its conversion and preamp performance, the MT 48 provides touchscreen operation, onboard DSP and extensive monitoring control, creating a flexible recording workflow for modern studio production.

Neumann has brought the M 50 back with the M 50 V, continuing the legacy of the tube microphone introduced in 1951 and closely associated with the Decca Tree technique. The new version retains the M 50's distinctive acoustic concept while introducing a titanium diaphragm, low-noise subminiature tube and RF-proof connectivity for contemporary recording environments.

Neumann RIME (Reference Immersive Monitoring Environment) brings a 7.1.4 immersive monitoring environment to headphones. Rather than creating an entirely algorithmic space, Neumann captured a real mixing room using the KU 100, together with a Neumann loudspeaker system and MA 1, then recreated the monitoring experience specifically for the NDH 20 and NDH 30.

Whether using a preamp built into an audio interface or a standalone preamp, the basic functions remain similar. From microphone input, instrument input, and gain control to phantom power, phase reverse, and low cut, understanding each function helps users set up signals correctly and use the preamp more effectively during recording.

Adding a subwoofer to a studio monitor system not only extends low-frequency reproduction but also reduces the load on the monitors, increases headroom, and reduces distortion. However, for the system to operate accurately, the subwoofer needs to be properly set up in terms of phase, level, and placement. Neumann explains the key factors that allow monitors and subwoofers to work together as a unified system in the studio.

Three-way studio monitors do more than simply add another driver. They provide greater control over the midrange, where much of the critical information in a mix is located. Dividing the low, mid, and high frequencies among dedicated drivers improves accuracy, reduces distortion, and enhances separation during monitoring.

Full Range Monitoring enables accurate reproduction of the entire frequency spectrum, from deep sub-bass to high-frequency detail. By combining high-performance studio monitors with a subwoofer, the system can provide full control across the frequency range without gaps or exaggeration, delivering a more consistent and reliable monitoring environment.
